Hitting the road again

Sunday, October 24, 2010

The car is almost packed. I'm hitting the road again. First I'm driving to Spring, TX for a class at 3 Stitches. Should be lots of fun! Pam, the shop owner, really knows how to have a great time. Barb isn't able to come to this class as she couldn't get away from work. (Darn it anyway!) But she stitched the project so she will be in Spring, TX. in spirit. The pincushion above is our class project. Love the long bird legs!

My van is full of everything needed for our booth at quilt market. So, after a quick visit in Spring, I'm driving on to Houston. Barb will be driving down on Friday. She's bringing the quilt books. (We really need those or we won't have anything to sell.)

Couple of quick answers to questions:

1. A couple of people have asked about the above quilt. It will be in our new book Garden Club.

2. The above needle roll will be in the book too.

3. Although Barb and I are taking a break from teaching next year, we are not taking a break from doing books and patterns. We will continue printing quilt and cross stitch books and patterns and maybe even add a rug hooking booklet.

I'm taking my camera to quilt market. Hope to have some good pictures for you when I return.
Will be back in about a week.

Until later dear friends!

Alma

  24. I've pre-ordered the book, and I've been collecting what I hope are the right fabrics to use...and the right amounts, since I saw the quilt the first time you posted the photo.

C'mon, Nov 11 (the date my shop said she might have the book for me...)

  26. Your blog reads like a pen pal letter. Thank you for taking so much time to continue writing.
I'm inspired with the stitching, natural gatherings of berries, acrons, and such, and sewing notes with threads, fabrics, buttons and trims.
And of course, your photography adds the warming touch to your words.

  27. I am attending all of your classes in spirit. I can never wait to see your new post. My passion is cross stitch but I love to collect your quilt books, also. Someday I will do that, too. I cannot wait for your publication next year of the class projects. Thank you for thinking of us who cannot attend in person!

  28. Each update on your blog brings yet more cardiac problems. I think there will soon be a medical condition known as Blackbird Designs Syndrome - symptoms include high temperature, heart racing and a twinkle in the eye...haha!
I really do hope these beautiful class projects appear in a booklet soon, it would make such a lovely Christmas gift.
    Good luck with your class.

  43. I received Garden Club in the mail today and love it. But the funniest thing--when I read the Introduction, I realized why you had gone to Polk a while back. But when I was in school in Lincoln, one of my roommates married a guy with the same last name. From Polk, no less! It makes me wonder if it wasn't the same family. What a gorgeous book and the garden theme is wonderful!

  45. This is totally off the subject but I pulled out my 4 leaflets of Christmas Memories to make the Christmas Quilt for Emily. I am totally frustrated. Is
there a layout pattern or something
available to help me with placements so I don't waste fabric or time by not getting it placed right. I do love your patterns but
    spoiled by layouts. Thank you,
    Janet
